Following total sell-out seasons at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe in 2014 and 2015, the award-winning Gein’s Family Giftshop are coming to Chorley next month as part of their debut UK tour.
The group is made up of Kath Hughes, Edward Easton, James Meehan and Kiri Pritchard-Mclean, the silent member in name only, and has been gigging for just over three years.
They met whilst studying at The University of Salford, quickly bonding over a shared love of black comedies, serial killers and Walton Ford.
Their first two years have been phenomenally successful- winners of the London Sketchfest 2014 Best New Sketch Act and Audience Choice Award, as well as Chortle Best Newcomer Award 2015, and Noise Festival Curator’s Choice Award Winners.
They were invited to appear in the second series of TV show ‘Inside No. 9’ after ‘The League of Gentlemen’ stars Reece Shearsmith and Steve Pemberton saw their debut show.
Most recently Ed and Kiri wrote an episode of Crackanory for Dave TV, and the group have also written and starred in a Sky TV Christmas comedy short – Gein’s Family Giftshop’s Christmas – broadcast on sky.com and on Sky Arts in December.
They’re performing the adults-only ‘Gein’s Family Giftshop’s Trophy Collection’ show at Chorley Little Theatre on Thursday, March 3 at 8pm.
Tickets are £10 or £8 concessions, from Malcolm’s Musicland in Chapel Street, 01257 264362.
