I have always heard good things about The Spinners at Cowling, but never did I think it would be this good.
With an excellent menu packed with choice and wide range of both alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages, I couldn’t wait to try the place out.
My usual ‘assistant’ Kerri was away at university, so I called in the back-up and brought long-term friends Adam and Dan.
The pub, located on Cowling Road, Chorley, has plenty of parking and we had no problems in finding a space upon our arrival.
As we walked through the door, we were greeted by a waitress waiting to seat us and who looked after us throughout the evening.
We arrived quite early which proved to be the right decision as the pub quickly filled up while we were chatting.
Our drinks order had been taken and within a minute two pints of Fosters and a diet Coke were on our table.
Browsing through the menus proved to be quite difficult, not because of the design but purely down to the number of options.
Steak, salad, lasagne and fish were choices that all three of us considered, but after a good 15 minutes of looking, myself and Adam opted for The Spinners Burger, while Dan went for a much lighter option in the beef stir-fry.
As we chatted away, we all looked around and took in the warm country-like atmosphere and admired the decoration inside which added to the enjoyment of being there.
After a short wait our food was brought to the table and how glad we were that we had opted out of a starter.
The two beefburgers came packed with mushrooms, bacon, chicken breast and melted Stilton cheese.
They were accompanied by a side salad and large amount of chips which came in a separate dish.
The stir-fry again came packed with veg and beef and had a tasty sauce bringing all the tastes together.
The burgers were very filling but were so good, it was impossible to stop eating!.
The Stilton didn’t dominated the beef and it was a great addition with the crunchy bacon, moist chicken breast and a handful of mushrooms.
I have had chips at pubs were they have been saturated in oil, but not at The Spinners.
They came with a crunch but were soft inside. Delicious.
Dan’s stir-fry was packed with flavour and had plenty of veg and beef to accompany the soft noodles.
He particularly enjoyed the sauce that it came in, which ensured the dish was definitely not too dry.
After working our way through the dishes we eventually finished and all that was left were three stuffed lads after an excellent
The food was washed down by a pint of cider for me and another Foster’s for Adam which topped a very enjoyable evening.
I would definitely recommend a trip to The Spinners.
If you are looking for top notch pub grub at a reasonable price, there can be few better places to go.
