Theatre lovers have got something to shout about with the latest musical heading to Blackpool Opera House.

Jukebox show Shout! The Mod Musical is the latest venture in the venue’s diary for 2016.

I expect to see audiences on their feet and enjoying a fantastic musical experience

Featuring the sounds of the 60s, the show tracks five groovy girls as they come of age during the liberating days which made England swing.

The show, running from October 19 to November 3, will be the third from producer Peter Frosdick, who has a three year deal to stage a Christmas show and an autumn musical at the Winter Gardens’ theatre.

So far he’s produced Tommy last September and A Christmas Carol last month, with Great Expectations running through the festive season this year.

Peter said: “Shout! is absolutely perfect for Blackpool. Autumn is such a key time for the town because of the Illuminations and I am thrilled we are bringing such a family-friendly show to Blackpool at this time of year.

Fantastic

“I expect to see audiences on their feet and enjoying a fantastic musical experience.”

Using letters to a magazine advice columnist, Shout! takes audiences on a nostalgic trio down Memory Lane.

The show is packed with hits, such as I Only Want to Be with You, Son Of A Preacher Man, Diamonds Are Forever, Puppet On A String, and Downtown, showcasing the solo stars and girl group harmonies of the day.

Winter Gardens managing director Michael Williams said Shout! was the perfect family show for Blackpool audiences.

He said: “We are thrilled to be adding Shout! to what is already a looking like a fantastic year ahead at the Blackpool Opera House.

“This is a great feel-good show and one where I expect the audience to be on their feet and having a brilliant experience. The nature of the music in Shout! makes it the perfect show for all the family to enjoy while parents and grandparents can reminisce about the music that shaped their lives.”

Tickets go on sale at 10am on Wednesday, priced from £15.
