The youngsters of St Annes-based Clifton Academy bring the musical Little Women to the stage of Lytham’s Lowther Pavilion for four performances from Thursday.

With music by Jason Howland and lyrics by Mindi Dickstein, the musical which premiered on Broadway in 2005 is based on Louisa May Alcott’s classic 1869 semi-autobiographical novel.

It focuses on the four March sisters at home in Concord, Massachusetts while the family patriarch is away serving as a Union Army chaplain during the Civil War.

Clifton’s production is directed by Joe Appleton, with choreography by Sarah Cosgrove and features Erin Bannister as Jo, Millie Quine as Meg, Alex Bury as Any and Megan Hill as Beth, with Archie Follett in the main male role as Laurie.

They feature in a cast of 35 in what will be the first production Clifton has staged since the Academy moved to new premises in St Albans Road earlier this year.

Little Woman is at Lowther on Thursday, Friday and Saturday evenings at 7.30pm with a 2.30 matinee on Saturday. Details from the box office on (01253) 794221.
