The spectacular natural beauty of Morecambe Bay is celebrated in true style this weekend as the Waterfest comes to the resort.
Funded by Morecambe Town Council a range of thrills and fun will be available for all across the town.
Featuring the Northwest Open Kitesurfing Championship at the Battery, spectators at Bay Waterfest will be able to see a host of daring tricks before having a go for themselves at powerkiting.
There will also sailing and kayak taster sessions from the Battery and Town Hall Slipway, as well as taking on the 18ft ridge-line climbing tower and one of the most realistic artificial caving experiences you can get above ground.
The stone jetty grassed area also offers the chance to discover the bay, featuring the RNLI Inshore Lifeboat and Hurley Flyer hovercraft, HM Coastguard, Canoe Exped, Bay Tourism and more throughout the weekend.
There will also be the chance to discover the astonishing 20:20 Vision giant outdoor exhibition at The Bay Arena, which celebrates the awesomeness of nature with a setting and view to match.
Morecambe Community High School students will literally launch activities as part of the event today’s tide, with dinghy racing also taking place on the Sunday.
Hosted by Morecambe Town Council, the British Kitesports Association, Morecambe & Heysham Yacht Club and Lancaster and District Canoe Club, the event promises to make the colours and patterns of the Bay’s sands, sea and sky come alive.
