A group of nine dads from Trinity and St Michael’s School in Croston are preparing to cycle from Southport to Hornsea, to raise money for the school’s PTFA fund.
Matthew Ward, whose son Teddy attends the reception class, came up with the idea after joining the school’s Parent Teachers and Friends Association himself.
He decided a big challenge was needed to raise some cash for new school equipment, and organised the 215-mile coast-to-coast bike ride.
They are doing it over three days on the well-known Trans-Pennine Trail, setting off this Friday.
Matthew said: “We are well on our way to raising our target of £2,500 and have managed to get some local businesses to sponsor our support vehicle.
“There are nine of us doing the ride and we have another dad, Barry McGuinness, as our support driver.
“It’s great that everyone has given up their time to do this, as the training has been quite intense!”
