A Chorley historian has appealed for information about a cricket medal he bought at an auction.
Stuart Clewlow paid £10 for the silver medal at the recent sale at Grove Mill Auctions in Eccleston.
The medal has the inscription of the name ‘T Critchley’ on it and the team ‘Chorley Albion CC’.
It dates back to 1893,
Stuart said: “I really don’t know anything about it.
“I’ve seen sporting medals before but they are not normally as intricate as this.
“There is no Chorley Albion CC anymore and it predates Chorley Cricket Club, which began life as Chorley Town and was formed in 1909.
“It was either a precursor to Chorley Town being formed or was a pub team.
“The Albion is in Bolton Street, Chorley.
“If anyone knows anything about the medal or Chorley Albion CC it could shed somne light on the mystery.”
