A LORRY worth £150,000 was stolen from a Leyland builder’s yard.

The green DAF truck was taken from a yard at C&W Berry on Golden Hill Lane.

Yobs managed to break into a yard and started to drive away with the articulated lorry with flat-bed trailer.

It is thought the brakes at the rear of the trailer had been left on and the vehicle came to a stop nearby the site.

The thieves then disconnected the trailer, dumping it nearby, and drove away in the tractor unit.

The lorry was tracked by the owner on his laptop and later found abandoned in the Newton Heath area of Manchester.

Enquiries are still ongoing into the incident, which happened at around 10.15pm on September 27, and police are appealing for anyone who may have witnessed anything to contact them on 0845 1253545, or through Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
