Age Concern Central Lancashire has now officially opened its new shop in Towngate, Leyland.

The Mayor of South Ribble, Coun Mary Green, cut the ribbon and gave a speech about the charity, commending the great work it does in the Preston and South Ribble areas.

Chief Executive Linda Chivers said: “We have wanted to come back to Leyland with a retail premise for some time since we closed our shop on Golden Hill many years ago.

“We provide a wide range of services and support across Leyland and its surrounding areas so this shop will be extremely important for us as a point of contact for local older people”.

Retail manager Bel Fry added: “We have been welcomed back to Leyland with open arms.

“The kindness of residents making donations has been overwhelming. We enjoy watching people’s reactions when they come in to the shop as they look through the stock and have had lots of customers coming in on recommendations from their friends telling them how lovely the shop is”.

The charity is now looking for volunteers to make up a full retail team.

For further information, call in to the shop or contact Sylvia on 01772 552865.
