A man from Leyland has died after colliding with a road barrier on Sunday.
At around 4.25pm, the 54-year-old motorcyclist named as Michael Rushworth, left the M65 at junction 1, Bamber Bridge, then travelled on to the A6 link road where he lost control of his black Honda bike.
He veered across the road, eventually colliding with the central barrier. He was taken to Royal Preston Hospital where he died.
The road was closed for four hours while an investigation took place.
The man’s family are being supported by specially trained officers at this time.
Police are asking any witnesses to come forward. Road Policing Officer Sgt Malcolm Bell said: “This was a tragic accident where a man has unfortunately lost his life.
“If you witnessed this incident or think you may have seen this man on his motorcycle in the time leading up it, please make contact with us.”
