A Leyland family are proving that starting a new business is as easy as child’s play.
Elaine Barnes and daughter Charlotte have embarked on a new venture which will see them transform their family home on Langdale Road into a childminding business.
Charlie’s Angels will take five children aged 0 to 5, as well as children after school.
The move was an easy step for Elaine, who has five children of her own, including daughter Charlotte 20, who has years of experience in the trade.
Elaine, 45, said: “My daughter is a registered nursery nurse and decided she wanted to do something herself.
“She is fantastic with children and already has a good reputation. She has got the qualifications and I have got the experience in business so doing this just made sense.”
And as a mum-of-five who also worked full time, Elaine knows the difficulties parents face when choosing where to send their children.
Elaine said: “One of my children I sent to a childminder and it took a long time to pluck up the courage to do that.
“I know what parents feel like when they come here. It is hard to leave your children with strangers.
“But we want this to be a home from home for the children and we have got plenty of outdoor space as well as things like Worden Park around the corner where we can do things like go and feed the ducks.”
The business has been going for two weeks and has already had some bookings and lots of interest. They follow the same guidelines as other nurseries and are also regulated by Ofsted.
Elaine said: “Good quality childcare is hard to come by but a reputation builds through word of mouth.”
