A Chorley businessman has embarked on a quest to unearth the snooker champions of the future.
Lee Martin, 42, runs his own business, The Money Shot, in Chorley but he’s turned his attention to coaching snooker after revitalising his love for the game after a 15-year absence.
He said: “Coaching will allow me to pass on my knowledge and enthusiasm for the game and bring new people into the sport.
“I have recently undergone the coaching course at the World Snooker Academy at the English Institute of Sport in Sheffield.
“I am now one of the first 15 snooker coaches in the UK to have gone through the program and can now provide my snooker coaching services to anyone who wants to learn, improve or simply get an edge on their friends.”
He received his certificate from six times world champion Steve Davis.
Lee will be able to teach you everything from holding the cue and stance right through to shot selection and match play psychology.
Alongside his coaching Lee captains the St Bede’s Snooker Club, which includes current and ex-pros, and last week won the Six Man Team Knockout in the local snooker league.
He added: “I would like to go full-time with coaching and my ultimate aim is to open up a centre of excellence where even people who have not played the game can get involved.”
But to reach his target Lee is also looking for sponsorship from local businesses.
Coaching on a one-to-one basis currently takes place at St Mary’s Parish Centre, West Street, on Saturday morning, from 10am till 1pm. For more information, call Lee on: 07809 747 536.
