Lytham boxer Scott Cardle is to make the third defence of his British title against Grimsby's Kevin Hooper.

The British Boxing Board Of Control have sanctioned the match and put it out to purse offers.

Hooper is the former English title holder, a belt once held by the unbeaten Cardle.

The 31-year-old Hooper has had 19 wins, four by way of knockout, with three defeats.

The Cardle versus Hooper contest must take place before the end of August.

The deadline for purse bids is May 11.

Cardle's last two fights have been against Sean Dodd.

The Lytham man won the first contest with a 12th round stoppage, while the other ended in a draw, a verdict which provoked a storm of controversy.
