A new comedy night is bounding onto the entertainment scene in Leyland after selling out on its first night.
At least 100 tickets flew off the shelves for the launch event which was held for charity at Italian restaurant, La Corte in Golden Hill.
The headline act for the next comedy evening will be Mick Ferry, as seen on Michael McIntyre’s comedy roadshow and voted best live stand-up 2013.
He will be supported by Andy Watson and Ryan Gleeson with Preston-based comedian Russell Bland as the compère.
Russell, who is bring the entertainment to town, said: “It’s going to be an absolute treat.
“I have been looking for a place in Leyland for ages now and our first night was fantastic.
“I was really surprised about that, food and comedy don’t normally mix that well but the owners of La Corte Andrea and Franco had it down.
“The room is just so perfectly set up for comedy, it is very professional with a full stage and lighting.”
Looking ahead to the upcoming event in May Russell told the Guardian a little about what to expect.
“Next time we’ll have Andy who is very much like Lee Evans but with a lot more gags and a powerful delivery,” he said.
“Ryan would say he is possibly the most famous comedian to come out of Blackpool.
“He’s a fantastic storyteller.
“And then of course you have Mick.
“I’ve been working for six years in the industry and he’s my favourite act on the comedy circuit so its going to be a pleasure for me to work with him and introduce him.
“His delivery is fantastic and he’s just so original.”
And residents in Leyland are already lining up for tickets after the initial evening proved such a hit.
Maggie Beswick wrote on Facebook: “The last one was brilliant.
“Better than any comedy club night that I have ever been to. Can’t wait.”
The evening costs £16 per person and includes a two course meal which must be pre-ordered.
Dinner will be served at 7pm with the stand-up acts taking to the stage at 9pm.
Tickets for the next comedy evening on May 25 are also selling like hot cakes and can be bought from La Corte at The Old Police Station.
