A couple accused of stealing a bank card from a Leyland pensioner and attempting to steal £290 in cash have failed to attend a court hearing after they were released on bail.

Daniel Laurntiu Ignat, 37, and his wife Mihaela-Beatrice Ignat, 24, both from Powell Street, Wolverhampton, were supposed to appear at Preston Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday, April 16.

They had been arrested on April 11 and were charged with stealing Bridget Whelan’s bank card, and were released on bail the following day, after being kept in custody.

A warrant for their arrest has now been issued as they failed to attend court in answer to their bail.
