Dog owner in court over serious park attack

A man has been ordered to keep his dog under control in public after it attacked another dog while on Farington Gate Park, Leyland.

Preston Magistrates’ Court heard that John Richardson’s bulldog-Staffordshire Bull Terrier cross called Cracker attacked a Jack Russell called Rocky in March, leaving it suffering heavy bleeding from its stomach and back leg, requiring surgery and stitches. The dog also suffered intestinal perforation and was on pain relief for two weeks

The court found Cracker was dangerous and not being kept under proper control.

Mr Richardson, of Boundary Street, Leyland, was handed a dog control order meaning he must keep the dog on a lead when in Farington Gate Park and muzzled at all times in public places. It must also be neutered and microchipped.He was also made to pay £200 costs.
