Several lanes on the M6 motorway are closed after a rush-hour crash.
A spokesman for Highways England said “a number of vehicles” were involved in the incident at 5.15pm today on the northbound carriageway near junction 31 at Samlesbury, near Preston.
All four lanes were closed after the collision.
Lanes one and two reopened shortly after 5.30pm, but Highways England reported delays of 10 minutes stretching from junction 30.
Normal traffic conditions were expected to return between 6.45pm and 7pm.
Congestion is also reported northbound between junction nine of the M61 and the M6, and westbound on the M65 between junctions four and two.
The police, ambulance service and Highways England traffic officers were at the scene.
