A Leyland pub has been saved from closure at the eleventh hour.
A dark cloud hung over the Old Original Seven Stars in Slater Lane, as the licensee was due to leave earlier this month.
Enterprise Inns, which runs the pub, said it was trying to find someone else to take on the job, but that the pub would be forced to close if nobody came forward.
Now though, the firm is delighted to announce that the pub is able to stay open.
A spokesman said: “We are pleased to confirm that an experienced operator has recently taken on the Old Original Seven Stars.
“We hope that the residents of Leyland will visit to enjoy his hospitality and show their support for this popular community pub.”
Councillor for the Seven Stars ward, Coun Donald Harrison, said: “It’s been there for about 80 or 90 years now, maybe even longer, so it would have been a shame to see it close.
“It’s great that it’s staying open, and there must have been a call for it from the local people, otherwise they would have let it shut.”
