A village farm has been recognised by a successful ceramics manufacturer in its 25th year of business.

Pottery specialist Emma Bridgewater, who is renowned for her polka-dot designs, is helping Cedar Farm, in Mawdesley, in their anniversary celebrations.

In a gesture that isn’t given easily, she has created 500 collectable and unique mugs for the farm.

Owners and founders of Cedar Farm, Julie Bailey and Sally O’Farrell, along with two guests, were invited to Emma Bridgewater’s Stoke-on-Trent factory to watch their mugs being designed.

The final print includes a pig design on the front, a cedar tree and eye-catching blue chickens.

Julie said: “The gallery has stocked Emma Bridgewater for years, and the cafe used to use them. I am a collector as well.

“It was fabulous going to the factory - just lovely.

“We have the same ethos as them at the farm. We are proud to be British, and we promote British farming and living in the countryside.”

The mugs were put on sale at Cedar Farm gallery at the weekend, and should also be available online over the next week.

But since there is only a limited number of them, once they are gone, they are gone.

Cedar Farm launched itself in July 1987 as a gallery and tearoom 25 years ago, developing its roots as a working family pig farm.

Now it is a thriving opportunity for creative businesses, employs approximately 100 staff, and is a great day out for all the family.

Children get the chance to meet the animals in the farmyard, as well as have some fun in the play area, and adults can take a break in the cafe and enjoy a unique shopping experience.

Julie said: “It’s been great.

“So many people come here now, and we have lots of regular customers.

“We always wanted it to be a family place.

“We have something for everybody, and are not aiming for one particular market.”

Julie and Sally are hosting a party in celebration of their creative journey on June 23.

Valued customers are welcome to attend. Tickets are priced at £20 each.
