Fire crews spent four hours tackling a blaze that broke out in storage units in Bamber Bridge.
Four fire engines from Bamber Bridge, Penwortham and Leyland, and an aerial ladder platform, were called to Jimi Box Storage in Bank Head Lane, Bamber Bridge, at about 1.15pm on Monday.
Watch manager Mark Noblet said: “There was a row of about 10 units and the fire started in the middle one and spread to one either side.”
He said it began to spread to the roof space, and one of the units contained cylinders, but said: “Luckily it didn’t cause a problem.”
He said: “We had to slow traffic on the M61 because of the smoke, and we had to put fire fighters on roof ladders and break through the roof because it was getting into the roof space.
“We did well.”
He said they were able to take out some of the contents of the units to prevent them from damage.
The cause was under investigation, but the fire is not being treated as deliberate.
