A wedding dress shop, Chinese takeaway, hair salon and a number of flats have all been damaged after a serious fire in Leyland last night.
Six fire engines attended the scene on Preston Road in Farington shortly after midnight, which caused the roofs of two upstairs flats to collapse.
The blaze is believed to have started in the flat above the Personal Touch Bridal Boutique wedding dress shop, and the fire has caused the ceiling above the shop to give way.
Smoke and water damage has also affected two neighbouring flats, the China Star takeaway and Salon 7 Hair.
Crew manager John Leach, from Preston fire station, said: “We received a call at around midnight to say there was a smell of smoke, so we sent two fire engines.
“When the crews arrived it was a very well developed fire in the upstairs flat.
“Six engines attended in total, and an aerial ladder platform and breathing apparatus were also used.
“The majority of the damage is above the bridal shop, but the ceiling is coming down in the shop as well.
“We believe it started in the upstairs flat. There is no roof left at all. The flat is gutted.
“Part of the roof has gone at the flat above the Chinese takeaway too.”
It is thought that nobody was injured in the incident, and around 15 people were evacuated from their flats and homes nearby.
Fire crews and police were at the scene this morning to start investigations into how the blaze started.
