Plans to extend a Leyland surgery have been withdrawn at the eleventh hour.
Sandy Lane Surgery, on Sandy Lane, submitted plans to extend their building to create a pharmacy and office space.
But they were withdrawn just a week before it was set to be decided by South Ribble Council's planning committee after officers recommended they be refused.
Residents campaigning against the plans said the scheme would create traffic congestion on an already busy street, as well as being out of character with the area, which has conservation status.
Bosses at the surgery said the plans would enable them to provide a better service for patients.
Coun Caleb Tomlinson said: "The surgery may try to come back with another plan, however it is in a conservation area and we need to be serious about retaining our conservation areas."
