A number of events are being held to gauge people’s views on proposals to widen the A582 in Leyland and Penwortham, to help relieve traffic congestion.

The plans, which are part of the City Deal, would upgrade the full route into a dual carriageway between Cuerden and Preston city centre, including the section of Flensburg Way towards Longmeanygate in Leyland.

A consultation is now being carried out by Lancashire County Council, which will run until Sunday, March 15.

A information and feedback event will be held on Thursday, February 5, between 2pm and 8pm at St John’s CE Church, Leyland Lane, Leyland.

There is another on Monday, February 9, from 11am to 7pm at St James’ Church Hall in Lostock Hall, and on Wednesday, February 11, from 10am until 8pm at Penwortham Community Centre in Kingsfold Drive.

Comments received during the consultation will be reviewed, with further design work carried out to support a possible planning application early next year.
