Staff at a Leyland hotel have quashed claims that the company is suffering financially, reassuring that all Christmas parties and weddings are still on at the venue.

Rumours started circulating on the internet that Wellington Park had gone into receivership last week, with a number of members of the online Leyland Forum saying they had heard talks that the business was struggling.

But general manager Joy Briggs said brides-to-be and those who have booked Christmas parties and New Year celebrations at the Church Road hotel have nothing to worry about.

“I’ve no idea where those rumours came from,” she said. “I’ve spoken to the director and I can confirm they are not true.

“The business is actually doing really well, and I’m keen to reassure people who have booked with us that everything is fine here.

“We’ve got weddings booked up until 2014, and four out of our seven Christmas party nights are fully booked up now.

“Our Christmas Eve Children’s Party is fully booked, and meal bookings for Christmas Day are full too.

“New Year’s Eve is selling well, with just a few places left, as is the pantomime, Snow White in Winter Wonderland.”

Next week, the venue will be transformed into a frosty Winter Wonderland ready for the festive period.

All rooms will be decorated and feature lighting will also be used, as well as plenty of Christmas trees to get people into the festive spirit.
