A married couple will be sharing breakfast with the nation as part of a ground-breaking new line-up for Rock FM.
In what is a first for the local station, Steve and Janine Marsh are taking over from Darryl Morris for the new Steve and Janine at Breakfast show.
Steve was the Big Cook on the Kids TV show, Big Cook – Little Cook, while Janine co-hosted on Hallam FM’s Big John at Breakfast. She also has a role on Bauer City 2’s breakfast and drive shows.
The pair, who have a one-year-old son, Leo, are local to the North West, as Steve grew up in Wigan and Janine was brought up in Blackpool. They now live in Manchester.
Steve said: “We’re very excited - and slightly nervous - about being the first married couple on Rock FM. If we can achieve a fraction of the success of couples like Richard and Judy or Eamonn and Ruth we’ll be chuffed.
“We will argue, as like most couples we do it all the time anyway, so we thought why not get paid for it.
“Janine tells me she’s the boss, but I let her think that, so in a weird way maybe it’s me.
“We’re over the moon at spending every waking moment in each other’s company, really pleased, can’t wait to hear nothing but each other’s voices morning till night.
“But seriously it’s a huge challenge and I’m sure there will be tears along the way but lots of fun too. We can’t wait to wait to get chatting with the listeners.”
Fiona Sadler joins the Rock FM team full time from 10am until 2pm, as the new host of the morning show.
She is no stranger to Rock FM or Bauer and regularly presents on Key 103 and Radio City. She replaces Stu Tolan who is preparing for a new show in Dubai.
David Ditchfield, or Ditchy, a former presenter on Key 103, Radio City and Real Radio, takes over the afternoon show from 3pm until 7pm. Ditchy replaces Jordan North who is looking forward to pursuing other opportunities.
Owen Ryan, group content director Bauer City Network, said: “Steve and Janine will bring all the drama and fun of married life to the new breakfast show and Fiona and Ditchy complete a new-look line-up that promises to keep Rock FM listeners thoroughly entertained through the work day.
“Of course, we also want to thank Stu and Jordan for their commitment and hard work as part of the Rock FM team and wish them the very best for the future.”
Jordan, 26, said: “After achieving one of my childhood goals to present on Rock FM, the station I grew up listening to, I have decided it’s time for a change. It’s been great fun, however new challenges lie ahead. I’d like to thank all the staff at Rock FM and to everyone who’s listened and taken part in the show - you’ve all made it very special.
“I made an emotional announcement on air and a lot of listeners called in and sent texts, which was really nice.”
Steve and Janine’s first show will be Monday August 15 and Fiona Sadler and Ditchy join the team from Monday August 1.
Stu Tolan and Jordan North’s final shows will be Friday July 29.
Darryl Morris has recently moved to the Bauer City Network evening show slot which is broadcast across all of its stations in England.
