An investigation was launched after a “suspicious” fire at a derelict social club in Leyland.

Emergency services were called to a fire at the former British Legion in School Lane for the second time in a week.

Firefighters from Leyland, Penwortham and Bamber Bridge were called to the scene at about 5.50pm on Monday, and crews in breathing apparatus put out the fire using a hose reel jet.

The fire was described as small, but was being treated as suspicious.

Nobody was hurt.

On Wednesday last week, firefighters rescued two men from a blaze at the same building.

One was able to walk out of the building and the other was assisted by fire crews.
