X Factor contestant JonJo Kerr is set to return to his home town for his first performance since being voted off the show.
The singing soldier will travel back to Chorley on Friday to perform in the Market Tavern, in Cleveland Street.
The father-of-two, who was voted off by judge Louis Walsh, is friends with landlords Brett and Lisa Dyson and has long been a favourite on the karaoke in their pub.
The 28-year-old said: “I told Brett that I was coming back to Chorley on Friday and I asked he if wanted me to perform a few songs and I’m really looking forward to it.
“It’ll be strange being back home, but I’m really looking forward to it.
“I started off singing in the Market Tavern so it seemed only right that I performed there first and hopefully my family will be coming along to watch.”
The small stage in the Chorley pub will be a world away from JonJo’s last performance on the X Factor that was watched by more than 12m people.
However, the infantry soldier said he isn’t down-hearted about being voted off and said the show has opened new doors for him.
He added: “Ill be back in Chorley on Friday, but I’ll be travelling to London again on Saturday to perform at the famous G-A-Y club.
“It’s surreal as big names like Kylie and Girls Aloud have performed there and I’m just a soldier from Chorley.
“The show has helped get my name out there and I want to build on that and take any opportunities that arise.
“I’ve also been asked to do a photoshoot for Tickets for Troops and get involved with different charities which is brilliant.”
JonJo has now left the X Factor house, but will return to the studio on Sunday to watch the show.
He added: “Gary Barlow was really critical of my performance and I wanted the chance to prove him wrong, but it wasn’t meant to be.
“He apologised to me after, but at the end of the day it’s a television show.
“It’s what happens now that really matters.”
Landlord friend Brett said regulars at the pub had long been encouraging JonJo to audition for the show.
He added: “He loved getting up on the karaoke and everyone could see just how talented he was and kept telling him to go for it.
“We couldn’t believe how well he’s done and it’ll be great to have him back at the pub singing.
“We still have all of our JonJo posters up and we have been watching him on the big screen whilst he’s been on the show.
“There will be a lot of people here supporting him.”
