Police are appealing for witnesses to come forward after a Lostock Hall convenience store was targeted by two robbers armed with a knife last night, (Thursday, January 31).

The offence took place just before 10pm when two men wearing scarves and hooded tops went into the Spar store at Millwood, Lostock Hall where one of them produced a long bladed kitchen knife and demanded money whilst the other man kept a look out.

The men escaped with approximately £60 in cash and 400 cigarettes.

Detective Sergeant Ian Derbyshire from Leyland CID said: “This is a serious offence which has taken place at closing time. Fortunately no other customers were in the shop at the time but the staff were threatened and although unhurt have understandably been left shaken.

“I would appeal to anybody that saw two men acting suspiciously around the area at the time of the offence or that saw that a vehicle parked on a nearby grass verge to contact us on 101.”

The offenders are described as being between 5ft10inches and 6ft tall and a ‘skinny build’. Both spoke with local accents.

The man armed with the knife was carrying a black cloth material sports bag with drawstring handles, the type used as a children’s P.E bag.
