This week’s court round-up.

A teenager must pay up £260 in total after stealing an advertising sign from a Leyland newsagents. Lee Edward Ashton, 19, from Hesketh Farm Liveries, Hutton, took the Snickers sign from McColls whilst subject to a suspended sentence from a previous offence. He pleaded guilty, and was committed to detention in a young offender institution for 12 weeks. He must also pay an £80 victim surcharge, and a criminal courts charge of £180.

A Criminal Behaviour Order has been made for 12 months for a 13-year-old from Leyland. The youngster, who cannot be named for legal reasons, was charged with burglary, criminal damage, theft from a person, theft from a house, and stealing bicycles. He has been placed under curfew between 10pm and 7am, must not engage with certain people, and must not engage in any act considered to be anti-social in any public place in Leyland.

A man has been fined £25 after failing to wear a seatbelt whilst driving in Hough Lane, Leyland. Aftab Rana Razzaq, 31, from Whalley New Road, Blackburn, pleaded guilty. He was also ordered to pay a criminal courts charge of £150.

A speeding driver has been fined £265 and had six points added to his licence. William Ian Bell, 31, from St Helens Road, Whittle-le-Woods, pleaded guilty to driving faster than the 30mph limit in the A683 Caton Road, Lancaster. He was also made to pay a £27 victim surcharge and £85 in court costs.

A man has been fined £135 for driving faster than the 50mph speed limit on a motorway slip road. Stuart John Burrow, 41, from Whittle Hills Close, Whittle-le-Woods, admitted the charge, and also had three points added to his licence. He was handed a £20 victim surcharge fee, and must pay £85 in costs.

A man has been committed to prison for 60 days after admitting to entering the Theatre Hotel in Dole Lane, Chorley, with the intention to steal. Michael John Hesketh, aged 29-years-old, from Fishergate Hill, Preston, was locked up because of repeat offending. He was also ordered to pay a criminal courts charge of £180.

A man has admitted to speeding in Runshaw Lane, Euxton. Kendal Carlyle Dixon, age 20, from Sunningdale Drive, Buckshaw Village, must pay a £200 fine, with a £20 victim surcharge and £85 costs. He pleaded guilty, and had six points added to his licence.

A 65-year-old has been fined £420 for driving too fast. Denis Martindale, from Regents Way, Euxton, exceeded the 30mph speed limit in Shepherds Way, Chorley. He confessed, and six points were added to his licence. He must also pay a victim surcharge of £42 and £85 in costs.
