Three women had a lucky escape when a tree landed on their car.

Amazingly, the driver and two passengers escaped unhurt when the tree struck the convertible in Dawson Lane, close to Buckshaw Village.

However, the road was closed for more than three hours on Monday afternoon while the log was cleared.

Sgt Kevin Mountain of Chorley Neighbourhood Police, said: “The tree came down and landed on the car in Dawson Lane, close to the Bobbin Mill.

“The vehicle had been behind a wagon, and it is believed the draught from the lorry and the bad weather had caused the tree to fall. Thankfully, the women escaped unhurt.”
