Man hurt in assault in early hours of morning

Police are appealing for witnesses after a man was assaulted.

The attack happened in the Chancery Road area of Astley Village at around 1.10am on Saturday.

It is thought the 23-year-old victim had been on a night out when an altercation occurred between a group of people.

The victim, who is from Leyland, tried to intervene and is thought to have been punched in the face by a man, resulting in a fractured jaw.

He was also knocked unconscious after falling to the floor.

DC Andy Doran, of Skelmersdale CID, said: “We would like to trace anyone who witnessed what happened.

“We know there were a number of people in the area at the time and I would urge them to contact me on 101 quoting log number 0155 of July 11.”
