Man trapped after car flips

AN elderly man had to be cut out of his car after it overturned in a collision in Westgate, Leyland.

The man was trapped in the black Renault after the crash just before 9am on Monday, and firefighters had to use specialist hydralic equipment to free him from the wreckage.

Police blocked the road while the operation took place, reopening it at around 9.25am.

Is isn’t known what the car collided with, but no other car was involved.

The man was taken to The Royal Preston Hospital but his condition is unknown.
