All creatures great and small turned out for a pet blessing service at a church.
Dogs, rabbits and a parrot joined their owners in the congregation at St Ambrose Church in Leyland on Sunday.
The service of blessing was opened by the church’s rose queen Chloe Bamber, her attendants and page boy.
Owners were encouraged to take their pets along for the sixth annual service and they all received a certificate of blessing.
A representative from the RSPCA gave a talk as part of the service.
Afterwards, a party was held in the hall, with raffles and refreshments.
The event raised £280 for the RSPCA’s Preston branch.
The Reverend Duncan Clarke said: “We want to raise awareness of the work of the RSPCA, but also to pray for animals because they are all part of God’s creation and I think we take animals for granted.
“They advance our enjoyment of our lives and for many people their pet is probably the only source of comfort that they get.”
Other animals to previously receive blessings have included rabbits, guinea pigs, hamsters, chickens, ferrets and even an owl.
