A 48-year-old man was found injured in an alleyway after being assaulted in Bamber Bridge.

Police are appealing for information after two men were assaulted in the early hours of Saturday morning.

At around 12.38am, the police and the ambulance service were called to reports that the 48-year-old victim had been found injured in an alleyway off Smith Street, to the rear of the White Bull pub.

The man was taken to hospital where he is being treated for multiple injuries.

Shortly afterwards, around 1.10am, a report was made of a second assault outside an address on Earls Avenue, also in Bamber Bridge.

A 36-year-old man was taken to hospital where he is also being treated for multiple injuries.

Detective Inspector Graham Hill said: “Although the circumstances around both assaults are still unclear, we are investigating the possibility that they are linked and so I would urge anyone who may have witnessed anything at all to come forward and contact us as soon as possible.

“We will have extra patrols out in the Bamber Bridge area tonight to try and prevent any further incidents and I want to be clear that this sort of behaviour will absolutely not be tolerated and anyone that is involved in any of this will be robustly dealt with.”

Anyone with any information is asked to contact police by calling 101 or alternatively, contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
