Vandalism at charity shop

Vandals have targeted a Leyland charity shop.

The Brothers of Charity office on King Street was hit by yobs who spray-painted the words 'phat boi', 'moon pig' and '2011'.

Bosses at the charity say the damage will cost them money to rectify.

Charity spokesperson Richard Stowe, who is based at the office said: "We're obviously disappointed that this has happened, although I can't quite follow what the graffiti says.

"We will have to sort this ourselves and of course there will be a cost involved in that."

The damage happened between midnight on January 1 and 9am on January 4.

Richard said: "I live in Leyland and it certainly wasn't there before New Year's Eve. We came back after the break to find it on the front of the shop.

"We'd really appreciate it if anyone who saw anything came forward, so we can take it from there and try and get it sorted as soon as possible."

After targeting the shop, vandals then moved on to the Phone Vault where they sprayed the word 'Moooo' on the shutters of the shop.

A spokesman for Leyland police said: "We believe the offenders may have been interrupted, or simply ran out of room to spray the words on the charity shop.

"We would appeal for anyone who witnessed the damage to contact us on 0845 1253545."
