Wedding dresses from the 1970s, a fire screen from the 1930s, and a whole host of vintage clothes, furniture and jewellery will come together to create a unique jumble sale in Leyland this weekend.

Friends Sam Jones and Zoe Diss have collected a number of vintage items over the years and are selling them at a special event they’re hosting in their hometown – and all for £10 or less.

The duo – Sam with her background in Fine Art who has been a dealer in vintage jewellery for the last 20 years, - and Zoe, who studied fashion and textiles and is a collector of 1970s vintage print dresses – formed ‘Trunk Vintage’ last year, after realising their collections were too big.

Sam said: “We had a lot of surplus vintage stock when we cleared out our stock room last autumn, and thought other vintage dealers might also have old vintage stock they wanted to sell off.

“So we created an event – a true vintage jumble sale in our church hall.”

Word spread and suddenly they had enough stalls booked to fill the hall, with vintage sellers and boutiques from across Lancashire signing up.

“We’re really excited,” Sam added. “It’s going to be really busy and we’ve got some great pieces lined up.

“There’s a bureau from the 1960s or 70s which I think will be the star of the show; it would be lovely painted up.

“And there’s a 1950s bedside cabinet and a nest of tables from the seventies.

“This will be the first event of its kind in Lancashire, and will be unique in that everything is from the 1980s or earlier, and will cost £10 or less.”

Zoe and Sam met on the local vintage circuit, and now take their ‘pop up boutique’ to vintage fairs nationwide.

Speaking about their first event in their hometown, Zoe said: “We’ve got a complete mix of sellers with different items, from clothes to furniture, glassware to jewellery.

“People will be able to find some real bargains.”

The ‘Trunk True Vintage Jumble Sale’ is at St Ambrose Church on Moss Lane on Saturday, March 1, from 10am until around 1pm.

Entry is £1 and visitors are advised to arrive early.
