A trial date has been set for a woman accused of murdering her husband two months after their wedding.

Sharon Edwards, 42, is charged with fatally stabbing solicitor David Edwards at their £320,000 marital home shortly after they returned from a Las Vegas honeymoon.

The 51-year-old lawyer was found dead from a single chest wound at the couple’s smart four-bedroom detached property on Parkers Wood Close, Chorley, on Sunday night.

An emotional Edwards, wearing a grey tracksuit with her dishevelled shoulder-length blonde hair tied back, made a short five-minute appearance at Preston Crown Court today.

Judge Stuart Baker told her she would appear at the court for trial on February 23 next year.

Mr Edwards had practised as a solicitor for 26 years across Lancashire and Greater Manchester, specialising in criminal defence.

The couple began seeing each other early last year and got engaged at Christmas.

They married in a registry office ceremony in June before jetting off to Las Vegas last month for a second ceremony and honeymoon.

As she was led from the dock, Edwards shook her head, waved and blew kisses to family members in the public gallery.
