Neil Crowe has hailed Bamber Bridge’s latest acquisition Michael Barnes.

The former AFC Fylde winger signed for the Evo-Stik Division One North outfit last week.

Barnes, a former product of the Manchester United academy, rejected a number of offers from club’s higher up the football pyramid to join Crowe’s men.

The 26-year-old, who left Kellamergh Park three weeks ago, joins former Coasters Joe Booth and Dave Hankin at the Sir Tom Finney stadium after the pair departed Fylde at the end of the season.

With his transfer business all but done, Crowe admitted everybody at the club is raring to go.

“I’m delighted with the three signings, it really shows where we are as a club.

“Three years ago, I wouldn’t have been able to sign players like Joe Booth, Dave Hankin and Michael Barnes.

“Michael is a great signing and he’ll fit straight in with the way we play.

“Myself and Neil Reynolds had a good chat with him and he also spoke to a few lads at the club.

“It shows what our team spirit is like, at Bamber Bridge we have everything but the financial clout.

“I think Barnes may be the last signing for us unless something outstanding becomes available.”

Brig return to pre-season training in two weeks.

Their schedule features matches against the likes of Preston North End, Altrincham, Chorley and Longridge Town.

With a wide variety of fixtures available,Crowe is delighted with the pre-season preparation.

“It has a bit of everything,” he added.

“It’s definitely the best schedule we’ve had since I’ve been here, it has a bit of everything, teams from lower leagues and leagues above us, I can’t wait to get started.”
