Euxton Villa bounced back from a midweek 3-1 defeat against Eagley to beat a strong Blackpool Wren Rovers 3-0 in the West Lancashire league Premier Division.
Villa welcomed back Gavin Cooper to the bench after he had missed the start of the season due to cricket
commitments, while Chris Blundell slotted infront of the back four as he replaced the injured David Heald.
Wren Rovers had plenty
of possession in the first half but struggled to create any clear -cut chances.
Villa’s first effort came from Blundell after smart work from Ashley Ball, but Blundell unfortunately skewed his effort wide.
They then had further chances through Byron Andrew and Danial Hogg before the breakthrough came midway through the first half.
An Andrew corner was only cleared back to Andrew, and the tricky winger crossed to the head of Ball, who finished well at the back post.
The goal spurred Wren Rovers on but the Fylde coast outfit failed to convert their chances on the stroke of
Villa dominated second-half proceedings and Hogg somehow how managed to miss an open goal from six yards out after excellent work from Danny Marland.
After two excellent saves from Villa keeper Shaun Gibbs, Villa then were awarded a free-kick which Andrew whipped in and Hogg finished well to make it 2-0.
And Andrew made it 3-0 in injury time to seal all three points for Villa.
n For the fourth home game in succession, defending champions Charnock Richard scored four goals after they destroyed Crooklands Casuals 4-1.
Despite going 1-0 down after 26 minutes, Charnock bounced backed to score four unanswered goals and seal the win.
Charnock created early chances but failed to convert after Carl Grimshaw fired wide and Danny Nolan had a chipped effort cleared off the line.
Charnock then scored two goals in two minutes on the stroke of half-time.
First Andy Roberts scored a tap-in after he took advantage of some wayward defending and, from the restart, Grimshaw spun round a defender to make it 2-1.
Charnock controlled the second half and they made it 3-1 after Nolan finished well from a Grimshaw pass.
Charnock then scored their fourth for another convinciong victory with an excellent header from John Sanderson.
n Coppull United suffered a damaging home defeat against Slyne with Hest.
Coppull had chances to equalise and win the game but Slyne showed why they are a hard side to beat as they pinched a 1-0 victory.
