Late goals stun Villa as Slyne take the points

Slyne with Hest stunned Euxton Villa to earn a deserved 3-1 win at the Jim Fowler Memorial Playing Fields.

Ben Danvers opened the scoring in the 67th minute before Villa’s Greg Johnstone drew the sides level from the penalty spot.

Jimmy Love slammed home a second in the 75th minute before completing the scoring two minutes later.

Mark McDonnell’s Villa were poor on the day and a shade of the side that defeated Charnock Richard last Tuesday.

Defeat leaves Villa ninth in the Premier Division of the West Lancashire League Premier Division.

Charnock Richard thrashed strugglers Lostock St. Gerards 7-0.

Patrick Bibby, Carl Grimshaw and Alex Randell all scored a brace of goals whilst Luke Barrow completed the scoring in the final minute of the game.

James Crook shot wide early on but that was as good as it got for the visitors as Charnock started to dominate.

Bibby opened the scoring in the 16th minute, his shot coming off the underside off the crossbar.

Striker Grimshaw shot straight at the ‘keeper before showing a great piece of skill to double the lead.

He controlled the ball superbly from a Randell cross before side stepping a defender and slotting past the ‘keeper.

Shortly before the hour, Harry Ryding shot over for the visitors when one-on-one with Gavin Bates.

At the other end, Grimshaw spurned several opportunities including hitting the post from a penalty.

Bibby scored his second shortly after and in the 66th minute Randell scored directly from a corner.

Randell scored his second expertly firing in a free-kick whilst Grimshaw finally added his second heading home from close range.

Sub’ Barrow rounded off the scoring with a fine finish.

Lewis Grimshaw and Ryan Salmon were the goalscorers in Coppull United’s 2-1 away win at Crooklands Casuals.

Grimshaw gave Coppull the lead in the 59th minute, but they were pegged back almost immediately, Dave Mansergh finishing well.

Salmon ensured the points would be coming back to Lancashire scoring the winner in the 71st minute.

Ric Coley’s 79th minute penalty ensured Croston Sports made it two wins from two in Division Two.

In an even encounter against Swarthmoor Social, Austin Waddecar was brought down in the box giving Croston the chance to take the lead.

Up stepped a confident Coley to fire home the penalty.

Leyland United lost 3-2 against Milnthorpe Corinthians.

Tonight, Tuesday, Euxton Villa host Southport Hesketh and Charnock travel to Eagley.

Tomorrow night, Wednesday, Coppull United are at home to Burnley United.

On Saturday, Charnock Richard host Southport Hesketh.

Coppull United play hosts to Lostock St. Gerards and Euxton are away at Crooklands Casuals.
