More than 100 girls took part in Euxton Girls’ primary school tournament at the Greenside playing field.

A total of 19 teams entered into two age groups – years 3/4 and years 5/6.

And overall, they competed in a total of 57 games.

The winners of the younger age group were Euxton Girls, who beat Chorley St Joseph’s 4-2 after an exciting penalty shoot-out.

Reaching the final was an amazing achievement for the St Joseph’s team, which was only put together a week before the tournament and had only one training session.

The year 5/6 final was contested by Brinscall St John’s and Eccleston St Mary’s, with the Brinscall team running out 1-0 victors.

This was the first season Brinscall have entered the tournament.

Euxton Girls passed on a special thanks to the five young ladies who refereed the matches, and also to all the schools for their conduct throughout the tournament.

n Euxton Under-17s are looking for a goalkeeper for next season, with kick-off being at midday when at home.

The player will be a current year 10 or year 11 pupil.

Training takes place on Wednesday nights at Buckshaw Village from 7pm to 8pm.
