In-form Ryan Steele bagged an eight minute hat-trick as rampant Coppull United thrashed Thornton Cleveleys.

Dave Haughton’s men were worthy 4-1 winners at Blainscough Park.

New signing Lennie Reid also got his name on the scoresheet.

Despite the one-sided scoreline, it was Thornton who took the lead, Brett Dawson finishing well in the 36th minute.

Steele equalised shortly before the interval and Coppull then ran in three unanswered goals in the second half.

Victory for Coppull leaves them second in the Premier Division of the West Lancashire League, one point of table-toppers Charnock Richard.

There was last minute heartache for Mark McDonnell’s Euxton Villa.

Villa opened the scoring against Fulwood Amateurs in the 18th minute, Dan Hogg finding the net.

The sides went in level at the break as Michael Jacques hit back for Fulwood.

In a dogged second half, both sides had chances to win it but it was the hosts won claimed a valuable three points.

In the final minute, Adam Stammers popped up to break Villa hearts.

High-flying Charnock Richard made light work of Vickerstown at Mossie Park.

David Burrows scored four goals as Charnock ran out 8-0 winners.

David Prout, Matt Ashcroft, Lewis Swarbrick and Jamie Sanderson were the other goalscorers.

Sanderson drew first blood in the third minute, Nick Beach cleared Burrows’ cross but the onrushing midfielder was there to sweep the ball in.

Dan Douglas threatened to equalise but his effort went wide of the post.

Swarbrick doubled the hosts’ lead in the 11th minute as he beat the onrushing Beach to the ball.

Gavin Bates tipped Steve Kewley’s header over the bar and from the resulting set piece, Dave Jepson headed over.

Burrows was denied by Beach and then the Vickerstown ‘keeper turned Carl Grimshaw’s effort onto the post.

Grimshaw was guilty of missing a chance in front of goal before Ashcroft extended the hosts’ lead.

The midfielder showed great skill in rattling a shot in off the post from an acute angle.

Two minutes before the interval Prout tapped in from close range.

An emphatic second half saw Burrows find the net on four occasions.

The striker has now bagged 12 goals this season.
