Bamber Bridge crashed out of the FA Trophy when losing 2-1 against Evo-Stik South side Brigg Town.
Mark Buchan was Brig’s goalscorer as Neil Crowe could only raise a squad of 13 for the away trip.
The Zebras got off to a flyer after they took the lead inside 48 seconds.
The ball was played into the Brig area and a scuppered clearance saw Danny Bell finish comfortably.
Bamber Bridge responded with a long throw into the penalty area but Rob Zand collected comfortably .
Bamber Bridge slowly got into the game and won a corner from a long free -kick into the penalty area from which Phil Doughty headed past the upright post when well placed.
Lennie Reid caused problems down the left wing and it was his cross that saw Brig equalise.
Buchan used the pace of the cross to send a looping header into the top corner .
Reid could have made it 2-1 but Zand saved well in the Brigg Town goals.
A sloppy challenge from Greg Johnstone in the area saw the home side awarded a penalty but Ryan Paczkowski blasted over.
Bamber Bridge pushed in the second half but they couldn’t find a way past Zand despite a number of efforts.
Then against the run of play, the home side made it 2-1 as Scott Hellewell fired a header into the top corner of the net.
The returning Lee Dovey made two smart saves towards the end of the game and Brig struggled to find a way back and they crashed out in a game that at most deserved a replay.
Brig take on Salford tonight before having a home tie against Cammell Laird on Saturday.
