Leyland Warriors have had several ‘firsts’ during a successful 2014 and last Wednesday saw another one.
Warriors’ wheelchair rugby team hosted Lancashire Bombers Wheelchair Basketball Club in the first game of wheelchair handball played in Lancashire, at Worden Academy.
With both sides being relative newcomers to this engaging and rapidly growing sport, it was fair to say that neither side were tactically strong.
However, this was more than made up for with some good chair skills and superb handling.
In a thrilling match in which the led changed hands several times in the last five minutes, Warriors edged out the visitors 51-50.
Leyland Warriors wheelchair section play both rugby league and handball and have players of both genders and wide range of ages.
