Khalid Valimulla took five wickets as Withnell Fold registered their first league victory since 2013.

Last year was nothing short of torrid for Fold as they struggled in the Premier Division, failing to win a single game.

And prior to the weekend, Fold’s had lost two of their opening three Division One games with the other falling foul to the weather.

Saturday brought a change of fortune against Wrea Green.

Bowling first, Valimulla took 5-34 as Wrea Green posted 125-9. Richard Bentham also took 2-29.

In reply, opener Ollie Lomax scored an unbeaten 38 while Alan Grogan hit 43 as Fold chased the target for the loss of seven wickets.

Eccleston recorded a

six-wicket victory over Kirkham and Wesham.

Kirkham struggled to just 87-6 off 37 overs, with Tom Wilkinson the pick of the bowlers taking 3-25.

Andrew Pearson top scored with 39 as Eccleston chased the total for the loss of four wickets.

White Coppice are still looking for their first win of the season after going down by 38 runs at Fulwood and Broughton seconds.

Coppice paid the price for some loose bowling and lethargic fielding, which allowed their opponents to score 224-7 off their 45 overs.

Brothers Wayne and Kyle Dixon shared five of the wickets between them.

In reply, White Coppice kept losing wickets at the wrong time. Chris Maguire hit 32 off 38 balls while captain Tony Moore fell for exactly 50.

Siddik Munshi (23) and Raja Farhan (24) kept their team in the hunt but fell in the pursuit of quick runs.

In the Premier Division, Hoghton were thrashed by 116 runs against reigning champions Vernon Carus.

Vernons batted first and posted a respectable 184-4 off 45 overs.

Will Monks was the pick of the bowlers taking 2-44 while Zaheer Abbas and Tousif Patel also took a wicket each.

In reply, Hoghton were never in the game as only two batsmen made it into double figures.

Darren Eccles top scored with 16 as they were bowled out for 68.

Croston are still searching for their first Premier Division victory as they were thrashed by nine wickets against Great Eccleston.

Stephen Langton scored 35 but again Croston struggled with the bat as they could only manage a disappointing 77 off 41 overs.

Seamer Sam Marsh (1-37) took the only wicket as Great Eccleston comfortable chased the total in 20 overs.

In Division Two, Whittle-le-Woods demolished Grimsargh by 148 runs.

Kurt Hilton smashed 72 in Whittle’s 169.

In reply, Markham(6-13) tore through the Grimsargh order as they were bowled out for 21.

Alex Proctor also took 4-8.
