Leyland were left frustrated by Morecambe’s stubborn tail as they had to settle for a winning draw at Woodhill Lane on Saturday.
After losing both openers cheaply, professional Umar Waheed, Henry Thompson and Ross Bretherton gave Leyland control at the crease.
Waheed made 47 and Thompson 41, but it was Bretherton who produced the standout innings, with three sixes and seven fours in his 65.
Leyland finished on 215-6.
Morecambe skipper Ryan Pearson scored 69 to take his side close to the total but they finished 13 runs short on 202-7 from their 50 overs, Leyland picking up a winning draw.
The second XI tied with Morecambe’s second string.
Morecambe made 170-8 batting first, Leyland’s Michael Birchall finishing with figures of 5-45.
Mason Crosby top scored with 21 but it was Will Jacques and Chris Kelly who hit 18 and 13 who helped Leyland to the 170 target in their 45 overs, with one wicket intact.
Leyland’s third team beat Blackpool thirds by 10 wickets.
Leyland’s fourth side lost to Withnell Fold seconds by five wickets.
Leyland were bowled out for 119, but Withnell duo Declan Charnock and Luke Needham both finished unbeaten on 33 as they won by five wickets.
Leyland’s Women’s first XI beat Leyland Lynx by 10 wickets.
