Vintage event organisers Dolly Dazzler will celebrate all things retro and local in Preston this Saturday
Vintage specialists Dolly Dazzler, right, are to host a veritable retro spectacular on Preston’s Flag Market tomorrow.
‘Revival’ will see a celebration of local arts, crafts, music, and food take over the stone square from 10am until 5pm.
The day will also raise funds in aid of MIND Lancashire, a charity supporting all areas of mental wellbeing in the county.
Among the highlights will be a unique ‘art flash mob’ with more than 30 artists setting out to recreate the most famous portrait of all time – the Mona Lisa – right on to the flags themselves.
Each artist – working exclusively with washable paints and pastels – will be equipped with an image of the Mona Lisa in order to each recreate the image in their own unique way.
An array of stalls will be positioned in front of the Harris Art Gallery and Museum where local traders will showcase their wares, from vintage fashions, furnishings and objets d’art, alongside new hand-crafted goods.
A Peruvian Cantina will also be present, in the form of a pop-up stall by Preston’s Duk Pond, along with a candy floss twirler and a selection of traditional food and sweet vendors.
More than a dozen local bands will play on the day, with the remarkable Mobius Loop closing out the day from around 4.15pm.
A spokeswoman for Dolly Dazzler said: “We aim to celebrate local individuals so they can inspire and encourage others.
“We understand the importance of reviving, recycling and up cycling, along with the promotion of local family businesses and the local economy.”
