There’s a new event on the calendar at one of the North West’s top stately homes next month.
Holker Hall in Cumbria will host its first ever Chilli Festival.
With vibrant entertainment artists, food from around the world, and a wide range of stalls selling chilli-inspired produce, the two-day festival is guaranteed to get temperatures rising.
At the centre of the chilli-mania will be the much anticipated chilli eating competition hosted by famous chilli expert ‘Darth Naga’, known for his numerous TV appearances talking about his favourite subject, Chillies!
For the less brave, there is a feast of culinary delights on offer to tempt your taste buds, with everything from curries to crepes and churros.
Chilli enthusiasts will be spoilt for choice with more than 30 stalls selling specialist chilli produce from sauces and seeds, to pickles and popcorn, as well as local artisan food producers and a variety of quirky gifts.
Throughout the day there will be live music and street performances, cooking demonstrations, and children’s activities to keep the whole family entertained.
Jillian Rouse, Visitor Services Manager at Holker Hall & Gardens, said: “We’re delighted to be adding the Holker Chilli Fest to our calendar of events here at Holker Hall this year.
“It will offer our visitors a completely different experience and promises to be a fun and lively weekend with some fantastic food and entertainment.”
The Holker Hall Chilli Festival takes place for two days - on Saturday September 13 and Sunday September 14.
Opening times are 10.30am to 5.00pm. Entrance to the Festival is £6 for adults (discounts for advance bookings are available online) and children under 16 go free when accompanied by an adult.
