A screening of Mary Poppins at The Dukes cinema in Lancaster will help celebrate the film’s 50th anniversary.

A new print of the children’s favourite will be shown on January 5 prior to the screening of Saving Mr Banks (PG), the new film starring Emma Thompson as author P.L. Travers and Tom Hanks as Walt Disney.

Tickets to see both films separately cost £6/£5 (concessions) but those booking both before January 5, can enjoy Mary Poppins for just £2.

Saving Mr Banks, being screened at the Lancaster cinema from January 3-9, tells how for 20 years Travers resisted Disney’s overtures to buy the rights to her creation until her book sales fell away and she finally relented.
