This Norwegian flight of fancy is a wacky gas
Based on the children’s book of the same name by Jo Nesbo, Doctor Proctor’s Fart Powder is a wacky Norwegian comedy that taps into children’s unerring fascination with bottom burps.
Lise (Emily Glaister) is a shy girl, who lives in Oslo with her parents. Her best friend and neighbour moves away, so poor Lise fears she will be alone in the world.
Thankfully, the new boy next door is a spunky and curious tyke called Nilly (Eilif Hellum Noraker), who helps bring Lise out of her shell.
The children visit the home of local inventor Doctor Proctor (Kristoffer Joner), who yearns to create something wondrous to change the course of history.
His latest invention is a powder which induces loud yet thankfully odourless flatulence.
Nilly and Lise try some of the powder and they discover they can generate enough trapped wind to propel themselves into the air.
Once scheming fellow inventor Herr Thrane (Alte Antonsen) learns about his rival’s magical powder, he begins plotting to steal the concoction for his nefarious purposes.
